BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
1 stick butter
1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
3 c. plain flour
3 eggs
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 c. buttermilk

Cream sugar, shortening and butter. Then add three eggs, one at a time and cream. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. lemon flavor. Sift flour and soda together twice. Add alternately to batter with 1 cup buttermilk. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350 degrees in tube pan. Don't open oven while cooking.
