MORAVIAN CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
1 c. molasses
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. shortening
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/4 tsp. cloves
1 1/4 tsp. ginger
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. flour

Add the sugar to the molasses and mix well. Melt shortening and butter. Cool and mix with molasses mixture, stirring well. Sift flour (about half of it) with all the spices and soda. Add to the molasses mixture. Stir well!

Then add rest of flour until you have a stiff dough. Let stand overnight in refrigerator. Roll very thin on floured cloth. Cut in desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
