2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 c. apples
2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. pecans
1/2 tsp. each of cinnamon, cloves and allspice
2 tsp. baking soda in 2 tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. flour

Cream sugar and butter; add apples, raisins and nuts. Mix well. Add soda, water, and flour gradually, then salt and spices. Bake at 350 degrees until firm and brown.
