PRUNE CAKE | |
1/3 c. butter 1 c. sugar 2 eggs, separated 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. milk 1 c. pitted prunes Chopped walnuts (optional) Cream butter and sugar. Add 2 egg yolks, well beaten, to butter and sugar mixture. Sift flour with ground cloves, ground cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Add dry ingredients to creamed sugar and butter and egg yolks. Add milk and cooked prunes and nuts. (For cooking prunes, follow package directions.) Fold in stiffly whipped egg whites into mixture. Bake in bundt pan, angel food or loaf pan, greased, at 350 degrees until done. Frost with Cool Whip, whipped cream or sprinkle powdered sugar. |
