MARSHMALLOW FROSTING
1 c. white corn syrup
1 pinch of salt
2 egg whites
1/4 c. powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. flavorings (almond or vanilla)

Combine corn syrup and salt in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. Beat egg whites (at room temperature) at high speed of an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Continue beating egg whites, and gradually add hot syrup in a slow, steady stream. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until frosting is thick enough to spread. Beat in flavoring. Yields 3 layers.
