MOM'S VEGETABLE SOUP 
2 med. tomatoes
10 mushrooms
2 med. onions
5 stalks celery
4 med. potatoes
5 carrots
1/4 wedge cabbage
1/2 c. rice
1 c. pasta
2 tbsp. flour
Salt and pepper to taste

Chop first 5 ingredients; slice thin carrots and cabbage. Saute onions, mushrooms, and flour in 1 tablespoon butter until golden color. Add all other vegetables; saute 5 or 10 minutes more. Add enough water to cover vegetables and simmer for 1 hour. Add rice and/or pasta and simmer 1 hour more. Serve with French bread.
