BLACK MIDNIGHT CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 lg. eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. hot water
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix cocoa and hot water. In mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Mix dry ingredients together and add with cocoa mixture to shortening and sugar mixture. I bake this in a loaf pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. This cake doesn't need frosting.
