BUTTER COOKIE DOUGH 
1 c. butter, room temp.
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1 to 2 tsp. water, if needed

In a medium bowl mix butter, sugar, egg, flour, vanilla and salt until a smooth, pliable cookie dough forms. Add water if mixture seems too dry. Gather dough into a ball, knead slightly.

Wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Dough can be stored for up to one week.
