SUGAR COOKIES (RAISIN FILLED) 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 tbsp. water
5 or 5 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients together only until blended. Bake about 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Drop on cookie sheet by spoonfuls for sugar cookies; must be rolled for raisin filled.

RAISIN FILLING:

Cook 1 pound raisins (seeded). Add a pinch of salt, 1 3/4 cup water, 6 teaspoons cornstarch, 1 1/4 cups sugar. Cook about 10 minutes; cool. Put about 1 tablespoon on each rolled out cookie and place another rolled cookie on top. Pinch shut and bake.
