DECADENT CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. boiling water
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 stick sweet butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sour cream
2 c. less 2 tbsp. unbleached all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Chocolate Frosting

1. Grease and flour 10 inch springform pan.

2. Pour boiling water over chocolate and butter, stand until melted. Stir in vanilla and sugar then whisk in egg yolks one at a time.

3. Mix soda and sour cream; whisk into chocolate mixture.

4. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to batter, mixing thoroughly.

5. Beat egg whites until stiff and stir 1/4 into batter thoroughly. Fold in remainder.

6. Bake at 350 degrees on middle rack 40-50 minutes until cake tester comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Then on rack completely before frosting.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

2 tbsp. sweet butter
3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 tbsp. heavy cream
1 1/4 c. sifted 10X sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

1. Place all ingredients in heavy saucepan over low heat and whisk until smooth.

2. Cool slightly, spread on cake while frosting still smooth.
