WALNUT POUND CAKE
2 sticks butter (Land O'Lakes)
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour (Red Band all purpose)
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla or walnut flavoring
1 (4 oz.) can black walnuts

Have butter, Crisco and eggs at room temperature. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour tube pan. Measure out 3 cups flour into a bowl, no need to sift, just loosen it up in the bag. Chop the nuts, take 2 tablespoons of flour from the bowl and mix in the nuts.

In a large mixing bowl, put 2 sticks butter, 1/2 cup crisco, 3 cups sugar, mix on medium speed well, until it is smooth and creamy.

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. In measuring cup, put 1 cup milk (sweet), 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon flavoring, stir this well.

Add some flour to the butter, Crisco, sugar and egg mixture, mix this well on medium speed. Add a little milk, alternately adding milk and flour until all is well blended together. Add walnuts last, blend well.

Pour in tube pan, bake 1 hour and 45 minutes. Do not open oven door. Oven vary, this temperature and time is right for mine.
