FRENCH CREAMS 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. ground raisins
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream brown sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Soak ground raisins with soda in hot water a few minutes. Add dry ingredients alternately with raisin mixture. Bake in a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees. While slightly warm, frost with a powdered sugar frosting.
