HOMEMADE FRENCH VANILLA ICE
CREAM (CHOCOLATE CHIP)
 
2 1/4 c. sugar
6 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
6 c. milk
6 beaten eggs
6 c. whipping cream
4 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, flour and salt, gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir over low heat until thick. Add small amount of hot mixture to eggs and mix well, return to hot mixture; cook and stir 1 minute. Chill, add cream and vanilla. Makes about 1 gallon.

CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM:

Add 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits, chopped as fine as possible to vanilla recipe in final minutes of churning.
