TOASTED CROUTONS | |
White bread or French bread cut 1/2 inch thick 1/2 c. olive oil 2 garlic cloves, chopped Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Cut bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Spread evenly in one layer on 2 cookie sheets. Toast gradually in oven until lightly brown on all sides. Meanwhile soak garlic in olive oil. Strain out garlic. Toss toasted bread cubes in olive oil mixture until well coated. Turn off oven and return croutons to cookie sheets and place in oven to dry, approximately 1/2 hour. Variation: May substitute garlic with 1 teaspoon of fresh dill, crushed. |
