CARAMEL CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. soft shortening (1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. Crisco)
2 c. plus 4 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
Caramel or butterscotch tidbits (approx. 1 1/2 pkgs.) sm.

Mix ingredients together. Place rounded teaspoon dough on cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
