CHOCOLATE ICEBOX PIE 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. cocoa
Dash salt
1 egg
1 1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dry ingredients together. Add 1/4 cup milk to make paste, then add egg; mix and add remaining milk. Cook over medium heat until very thick. Remove from heat add butter and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Cool and top with Cool Whip. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

This is the same recipe my Grandmother made in the 1940s. It is wonderful as a pie filling or a pudding. You can use a graham cracker or a pastry crust. It is so much better than any boxed pudding mix. The only thing I would add is to stir constantly while it is thickening or it will scorch.
