BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1 egg, beaten
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Boil raisins and water until raisins are plump and 1 cup water remains. Let cool. Add egg, sugar, vanilla and butter to this mixture. Sift together flour, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Mix dry ingredients into the liquid ingredients. Grease either loaf pans or cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes.
