PEANUT PATTIES 
3 c. sugar
3 c. raw peanuts
1 c. half and half or regular milk
2/3 c. light Karo corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Red food coloring

Stir in pan the sugar, peanuts and Karo syrup. Cook over medium heat until candy makes a firm ball, when a little is dropped in cold water (or 244 degrees on candy thermometer). Remove from heat and let cool about 10 minutes.

Then add a few drops red food coloring, butter and vanilla. Start beating and beat until candy starts thicken, then immediately drop by spoonfuls onto waxed and buttered paper. Let set until firm.
