PAN CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

ICING:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
5 tbsp. milk
1 lb. confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine flour, sugar, and salt in bowl. Place butter, water, shortening, and cocoa in saucepan and bring to boil. Pour over flour mixture. In another bowl, beat the eggs; add buttermilk, soda, and vanilla. Stir well and add to the other mixture. Mix everything well. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

ICING:

Start about 5 minutes before cake is done. Melt butter; add cocoa and milk. Pour over confectioners sugar and beat. Add vanilla and nuts. Stir well and spread over hot cake.
