IRISH TEA SCONES | |
2 c. all purpose flour 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. butter 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1/2 c. milk Into a mixing bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. Blend in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Add all remaining ingredients; mix with a fork just until dry ingredients are moistened and a soft dough is formed. Divide into 2 parts. Turn each out onto a floured board, without handling. Flatten with a rolling pin into a 1/2 inch thick round. Cut into wedges or rounds and bake on a greased and floured cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Serve warm and lightly buttered. |
