APPLESAUCE PUMPKIN BREAD 
2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. applesauce
1 c. pumpkin
3 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. apple juice

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, applesauce and pumpkin. Add dry ingredients alternately with apple juice. Add nuts. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Pour in bread mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Pineapple sauce may be substituted for applesauce.
