CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. (3 sticks) butter
3 eggs
4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda in 1/2 glass whiskey or wine
1 2/3 c. walnuts
1 2/3 c. candied cherries
3 c. raisins

Beat sugar, butter and eggs together. Blend in flour and baking soda dissolved in wine. Blend in nuts and fruit last by hand. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
