AUNT TEAT'S LIME PICKLES | |
1 c. lime 1 gal. water 1 gal. thinly sliced (1/4 inch) cucumbers 6 c. vinegar 7 c. sugar 2 tsp. water 1/2 box pickling spices Dissolve lime in water. Soak cucumbers in lime water for 24 hours. Rinse well and soak in clear water for 2 hours. Mix vinegar, sugar, water and pickling spice (tied in cloth). Bring to a slow boil. Cook slowly for 2 hours. Stir gently with a wooden spoon as pickles are brittle and easily broken. Fill jars and seal. |
