APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. lard
Pinch salt
2/3 c. milk
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. butter

Combine flour, baking powder, lard, salt and milk for dough. Roll and divide into squares and place pared and quartered apples in each. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon, wet edges of dough and pinch together. Place in a baking pan.

Make syrup of sugar, water and butter. Pour over dumplings and bake 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
