BANANA FRUITCAKE 
1 1/2 c. walnuts
1 lb. mixed candied fruits
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 lg. eggs
1 c. mashed bananas
Powdered sugar (opt.), to sift over cooled top

Chop nuts coarsely. Chop candied fruit finely and combine with nuts. Set aside.

Sift flour with baking powder, salt, soda and nutmeg. Cream butter with sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Blend in flour mixture alternately with mashed bananas at low mixer speed or by hand. Pour batter over fruit-nut mixture and blend well. Turn into well greased tube pan. Bake on lowest rack at 300 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. Let stand 15 minutes in pan. Remove from pan and cool.
