SPAGHETTI WITH MARINARA SAUCE 
1 lg. onion
1 lg. carrot, finely shredded
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 tbsp. cooking oil
2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes, cut up
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 sm. jar mushrooms, finely chopped
1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
Dash of pepper
Dash red pepper, crushed
8 oz. spaghetti, linguine or other pasta

In large saucepan, cook onions, carrots and garlic in hot oil until tender, but not brown. Add undrained tomatoes, sugar, salt, oregano, pepper, mushrooms and red pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes. Cook pasta in a large amount of boiling salted water until tender. Drain well. Serve with sauce. Makes 8 side dish servings.
