BANANA BARS 
1/2 c. butter, room temp.
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 scant c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

FROSTING:

1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
3/4 stick butter, softened
1 tbsp. cream or milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. powdered sugar
Chopped walnuts, optional

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Bars: Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, buttermilk, bananas and vanilla. Mix in dry ingredients. Spread batter in greased jelly roll pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until bars test done. Cool on rack; frost while still slightly warm.
