OLD FASHIONED APPLE BUTTER 
12 to 14 tart apples (washed & quartered, do not peel)
2 c. apple juice or apple cider

Combine apples and juice in crock pot, cover and cook on low for 12 to 15 hours. Put through a food mill to remove peelings. Measure cooked apples and return to crock pot. For each cup of apples, add the following: 1/4 tsp. allspice 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. cloves

Stir well, cover and cook on high for 8 hours. Stir every 2 hours. Remove cover after 3 hours, to allow the juice to cook down. Spoon into sterile hot jars and seal.
