BANANA CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 c. sweet milk

Cream sugar and shortening. Add dry ingredients, then milk, eggs and vanilla. Fold in bananas. Pour into bundt pan. Bake in 325 degree oven about 1 hour and 15 minutes or in cake pans about 30 to 35 minutes.

CARAMEL FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter

Combine sugar and milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then boil without stirring until a small amount forms a soft ball in cold water (232 degrees on candy thermometer). Add butter. Cool and beat until of right consistency to spread.
