RAISED DOUGHNUTS 
3-3 1/2 c. flour
2 pkgs. dry yeast
3/4 c. milk
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt

Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast. Heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt until warm. Add flour with yeast and eggs to warm mixture. Beat at low speed for 3 minutes. Slowly add remaining flour.

Knead on lightly floured surface 5-8 minutes. Shape into ball; cover; let rise for 45-60 minutes. Punch down; divide and roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut circles; cover and let rise 30-45 minutes. Deep fry 1 minute. Dry on paper towel. Cover with sugar.
