MICROWAVE-SWEET AND SOUR
MEATBALLS
 
1 lb. ground chuck
1 egg
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
3 tbsp. water
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. ketchup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. soy sauce

Combine meat, egg, 1/4 cup onion, salt and pepper in bowl. Mix well. Shape mixture into 24 meatballs. Place in 12x8-inch glass baking dish. Microwave at HIGH 2 minutes. Turn meatballs over and rearrange. Microwave at HIGH 2 minutes, or until firm. Pour off excess fat. Cover with waxed paper and let set.

Combine 1/4 cup onion and butter in 1 1/2-quart glass casserole. Microwave at HIGH 3 minutes, or until onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Microwave at HIGH 3 minutes, or until hot. Pour sauce over meatballs. Serve with hot rice.

Serves 4. An alternative to a main dish meal is to serve these meatballs as an appetizer.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
