FLYING SAUCERS 
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped almonds
1 1/2 c. brown sugar

Melt chocolate. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Cream shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Blend in chocolate with flour and milk to mixture. Stir by hand in oatmeal, raisins. Chill 1 hour. Shape into balls and roll in nuts. Flatten and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
