PLUM TORTE 
1/2 c. unsalted butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour, sifted
2 eggs
24 halves pitted purple plums
Sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and butter in a bowl. Add the flour, baking powder, salt and eggs; beat well. Spoon the batter into a springform 8 or 9 inches. Place the plum halves, skin down on top of batter. Sprinkle lightly with sugar and lemon juice, depending on sweetness of fruit. Sprinkle with about 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Bake 1 hour. Remove and cool. Serve plain or with whipped cream. 8 servings.
