POTATOES IN THE OVEN 
1 (2 lb.) pkg. frozen hash browns (Southern-style)
1/4 c. + 1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 tsp. white or black pepper
1 (8 oz.) pkg. shredded cheddar cheese
1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
1/2 c. cereal or cracker crumbs

Place hash browns, 1/4 cup butter, onion, pepper, cheese, sour cream and soup in large greased baking dish. Mix until blended. Combine remaining butter with cereal or cracker crumbs and sprinkle over top. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until bubbly. Makes 6 servings.
