SPARERIBS AND SAUERKRAUT 
1 1/2 lbs. spareribs
Salt and pepper
2 c. sauerkraut
1/4 c. hot water
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 apples, cut in eighths

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place sauerkraut in baking dish. Add brown sugar and apples. Top with ribs. Add water; cover tightly and bake 1 1/2 hours. Remove cover the last 15 minutes to brown.
