LEBANESE BASIC MEAT MIXTURE
(Mihshee)

1/2 lb. ground round or chuck
1 1/2 c. chopped onion
2 tbsp. pine nuts
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. salt
Pepper (black or red)
Juice of 1 sm. lemon

Brown beef, onion and pine nuts in small amount of butter. Add spices and lemon juice. Reheat thoroughly. You may wish to make several batches of meat mixture and freeze part.

Place meat mixture over mound of rice equal to mound of meat in center of serving dish and place steamed cabbage around outer edge of dish. Sprinkle a few drops of lemon juice over cabbage. Serve hot.

This mixture is good for meat pies. Use flaky canned biscuits. Divide each biscuit into 2 pieces. Place biscuit halves on lightly greased cookie sheet. Press spoonful of meat mixture on top of each biscuit half. Bake in 400 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

I just made this Sat night for my Bunco night (we all had to bring food from a country starting w/our first initial). I actually put it on the flaky biscuits (as recommended) and my 10 girlfriends couldn't wait till they even cooled. It made the house smell yummy! I do recommend letting your biscuits sit out a little while.. I found when I pulled a can straight out of the fridge, it was hard to pull apart. Thanks so much for the recipe!
