DATE PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter
4 eggs, beaten
2 c. pumpkin
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 1/2 c. flour
2/3 c. water
2/3 c. dates, chopped

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, water, pumpkin and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture. Stir in dates and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 3 small or 2 large loaves.
