Prepare a package of chocolate cake mix according to directions on box. Fill paper lined muffin tins 1/2 full.

Cream together:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1/8 tsp. salt

Stir in:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Drop one rounded teaspoonful of creamed cheese mixture into each cupcake. (Filling will settle downwards as cupcakes bake.) Bake according to directions on cake mix package.
