CHOCOLATE ANGEL FOOD CAKE

1 angel food cake
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
1 pt. whipping cream
1/2 to 1 c. chopped nuts, pecan or walnuts

Melt chocolate chips in top of double boiler, over hot water. Beat egg yolks and stir into melted chocolate. Beat egg whites and fold into chocolate mixture. Beat whipping cream and fold it and vanilla into chocolate mixture. Break up 1/2 of the angel food cake into bite size pieces and place in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Pour 1/2 of chocolate mixture into pan. Break up remaining 1/2 of cake and layer over chocolate layer. Top with remaining chocolate mixture. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and refrigerate overnight.
