LAYERED DESSERT

FIRST LAYER:

1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. nuts

May use 1/2 cup nuts and just 1 cup of flour, if desired. Mix together and press in bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or just until browned. Cool.

SECOND LAYER:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. Cool Whip

Cream the cheese and powdered sugar. Stir in Cool Whip. Spoon over cooled crust.

THIRD LAYER:

2 sm. pkg. instant pudding mix (chocolate, butterscotch, etc.)
3 c. milk

Blend pudding mix and milk until thickened. Pour over cheese layer.

FOURTH LAYER:

Spread Cool Whip over pudding. Top with nuts, if desired. Refrigerate overnight.
