BARBARA'S CHOCOLATE CHIPS 
Vegetable oil for baking sheets
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. frimly packed brown sugar
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. very hot water
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking sheets. 2. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt onto waxed paper. 3. Beat butter, sugars and egg in large bowl with an electric mixer until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in hot water and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended and smooth. Stir in chocolate chips. 4. Drop dough by well rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden. 5. Cool on sheet on wire rack for 1 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Yield: 3 dozen cookies. Total time. 20 minutes.
