BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING 
1/2 loaf thin sliced sandwich bread, cut in half
1/4 c. melted butter
1/4 c. seedless raisins
3 c. milk
6 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of nutmeg & salt

Arrange sliced bread in overlapping rows in greased baking dish (9 inch square); sprinkle melted butter over bread and then sprinkle with raisins.

Beat the eggs with sugar until smooth. Then add milk, vanilla, nutmeg and salt. Pour the custard over the bread. Place dish in a shallow pan of hot water. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes or until set. Serve warm or chilled.
