MARTHA'S CHERRY BREAD AND BUTTER
PUDDING
 
12 slices white bread
butter
Cinnamon
10 oz. jar cherry preserves
4 eggs
2 2/3 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cut crusts from bread, if desired. Spread butter on 1 side of each slice. Butter an 8 x 8 inch baking dish. Arrange 4 slices of bread in bottom of dish; sprinkle with cinnamon. Spread a spoonful of preserves on each slice. Repeat, making two more layers. In medium bowl, beat eggs, milk, and sugar together; then pour over bread and bake 1 hour. Serves 6.
