CHERRY-WALNUT BREAD 
1 jar maraschino cherries
Milk about 2/3 cup
3 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 4 (6x3 1/2 inch) baking tins. Drain cherry syrup into measuring cup; add enough milk to measure 1 cup. Set cherries aside.

In a large mixer bowl at low speed; beat flour, brown sugar, cherry-milk, butter, eggs, baking powder and salt for 2 minutes or until well blended.

Stir in nuts and cherries. Pour into tins. Bake 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. (Sweet red cherries enhance flavor and appearance of this cake-like quick bread).
