CHILLY DAY STEW 
1 lg. carrot
3 onions
1 qt. potatoes, peeled and diced
2 tbsp. rice
2 tbsp. macaroni
1 tsp. salt
1 pt. cream or milk

In kettle of rapidly boiling water, cook the carrots while you are cleaning and chopping the onions. Add them to the kettle. Add potatoes, rice, salt and enough water to cover. Cook slowly until tender. When ready to serve, add the cream or butter and milk. Let mix but do not boil. Serve with crackers or toast.
