BANANA NUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
4 lg. bananas, mashed
1 c. chopped pecans

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. canned milk
1 stick butter

Grease and flour 3 (9") cake pans. Beat sugar and butter together until creamy. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Sift flour, soda and salt together and mix with sugar mixture. Add buttermilk alternating with flour mixture. Add mashed bananas and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees until cake tests done.

FROSTING: Put all ingredients in large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook to softball stage. Remove from heat and beat until thick enough to frost cake. Frost between layers, then sides and top.
