WALNUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter (1 stick softened)
1/4 c. sugar
1 lg. egg yolk
All purpose flour
Salt
1 (8 oz.) can walnuts (2 c.), chopped
1 1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 lg. eggs
1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 tbsp. orange juice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, with hand mixer, mix butter, sugar, egg yolk, 1 1/4 cups flour, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon water until blended. Pat dough evenly into bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Set aside. In medium bowl, mix walnuts, brown sugar, vanilla, baking powder, eggs and 1/3 cup flour until blended. Spread walnut mixture evenly over crust in baking pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. When cool, in small bowl, mix confectioners sugar and orange juice until blended. Drizzle icing over walnut layer. Let icing dry about 30 minutes. When icing is set, cut lengthwise into 4 strips, then cut each strip crosswise into 6 pieces. Makes 2 dozen.
