GREEN TOMATO MINCEMEAT | |
1 peck green tomatoes 4 qts. apples, chopped 4 lbs. brown sugar 2 pkgs. raisins 1 cup or glass of jelly (grape, or whatever you have on hand) 1 1/2 tbsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 tbsp. cloves 1/2 tbsp. nutmeg 1/2 lb. candied fruit 1 1/2 tbsp. salt 2 c. suet, ground Grind tomatoes through finest chopper, or use food processor. Drain off juice. Cover with cold water and scald 3 times, using fresh water each time. Mix remaining ingredients with tomatoes and cook as any mincemeat. Pack into sterilized jars and seal. |
