DECORATING BUTTERCREAM ICING 
1 tsp. clear vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
1/4 tsp. almond extract
2 tbsp. milk or water
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. Wilton Meringue Powder
1 lb. sifted confectioners' sugar (approx 4 c.)

Sift the confectioners' sugar and meringue powder into a large mixing bowl and set aside. Cream shortening, flavorings and milk or water. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients and mix on medium speed until all ingredients have been thoroughly mixed together. Blend an additional minute or so, until creamy.

This will give you a stiff consistency which is good for making flowers. Add 1 tablespoon milk or water per cup of icing for medium consistency. For thin consistency, which is perfect for spreading on cakes, add another tablespoon of milk or water. Yields 3 cups.
