BUTTERMILK BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. cold water
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. salad oil
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs

Sift flour and sugar and cocoa together in bowl. In saucepan bring water, butter and salad oil to boil. Pour over dry ingredients in bowl and beat until creamy. Add buttermilk, soda and eggs; beat thoroughly. Bake in greased jelly-roll pan for 18 minutes at 375 degrees.

Frost warm brownies with frosting made by brining 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk to a boil. Add 1 (1 pound) box of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well and spread over warm brownies. Nuts may be sprinkled on top.
